KINGSVILLE, Texas.  Western Colorado will head to Texas for their next game on Saturday (Nov. 19) against Texas A&M Kingsville, which will tipoff at 4 p.m.
 
MOUNTAINEERS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
  • Coming off two tough losses to start the season against Texas Woman's (55-57) and Angelo State (51-66), the Mountaineers will look to get their first win of the season against the Javelinas.
  • Early on in the season, Rachel Cockman and Brooklyn Seymour have been the leading scorers for the Mountaineers, Cockman scoring 14.5 points per game (PPG) and Seymour scoring 11.5 PPG. Cockman also has the best field goal percentage (63.6 percent) and is the teams leading rebounder with 18 boards. Seymour is right behind her in rebounds with 16. At the free throw line, Emmery Wagstaff is leading the team with a perfect 1.000 free throw percentage.
  • Hayley Valencia has had a solid debut to her collegiate career, recording three steals and two blocks. Wagstaff also has been locked in on defense, pitching in with three steals of her own. Additionally, Wagstaff and Valencia have done a good job setting up teammates each have five assists apiece.
  • As a whole, Western scores 53 PPG, while shooting; 35.3 percent from the field, 19.5 percent from three and 72.7 percent from the free throw line.
JAVELINA HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
  • Texas A&M Kingsville will look to pick up their third straight win of the season, after defeating Chadron State (80-63) to start the season and Black Hills State (71-65) the following night.
  • Four players – Brianna Pena (16-points PPG), Shelby Ray (16 PPG), Mia Rivers (13 PPG) and Georgia Ohiaeri (12 PPG) – lead the charge for the Javelinas on offense, each scoring in double figures. Out of those four players, Ray has the best field goal and three-point percentage, shooting 70.6 percent from the field and 85.7 percent from three. Rivers has taken the most free throw attempts (12) on the team and as only missed two, resulting in her field goal percentage being 83.3 percent.
  • On the defensive end, Ohiaeri is leading the team in steals with four, while Ray has the most blocks (5) on the team so far. When it comes to grabbing rebounds, Ray leads the team with 12 (six per game).
  • As a whole, Kingsville scores 75.5 points per game, shoots; 49.1 percent from the field, 42.9 percent from three and 74.4 percent from the free throw.
