SALT LAKE CITY, Utah / GUNNISON, Colo. Western Colorado will look to pick up their sixth and seventh win of the season, while on extend their two-game winning streak this week when they take on Westminster College (Oct. 7) and Colorado Mesa (Oct. 9).
MOUNTAINEERS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
- Western is coming off two impressive performances this past week, shutting out New Mexico Highlands 5-0 and Colorado Christian 1-0. With the win the Mountaineers are in fourth-place in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference standings. The Mountaineers have a good chance to pick up two more wins this weekend, taking on seventh-place Westminster and eighth-place Colorado Mesa.
- In terms of scoring Western has the sixth-best offense in RMAC competition, scoring 1.6 goals per game. On the flip side they have given up 1.4 goals which is also sixth-best.
- It has been a team effort when it comes to scoring as 11 players have recorded at least one goal this season. Laura Pelino and Taylor Bottoms have the most goals scored, each having two goals apiece. Reece Mercer has been delivering excellence passes all season and leads the team with four assists.
- Aubree Orosco has been impressive in her first season, recording 32 saves, three shutouts, and a save percentage of .800.
GRIFFINS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
- Westminster has faced two tough opponents – Regis and Colorado School of Mines - recently resulting in them being on a two-game losing streak.
- Offensively, the Griffins have the eighth best offense, scoring one goal game. In the five games they have played in the RMAC they have only allowed .80 goals. Additionally, they have the fourth best goalkeepers recording a save percentage .778.
- Similar to Western, Westminster has had nine different players find the back of the net – Madison Schmidt leading the way recording four goals so far this season. Alex Maple is the best passer on the team having a team high nine assist.
- In the goal, Kelsea Cracroft has recorded 14 saves in RMAC competition in the five games she has played in.
MAVERICKS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
- Very similar to Westminster, Colorado Mesa had to face undefeated Regis and second place Colorado School of Mines, so they are currently on a three-game losing streak – losing to UCCS on Sep. 25 - and will look to get back on track this weekend. The Mavericks are in eighth place at the moment.
- While Colorado Mesa is in eighth place, they do have the third-best offense in RMAC competition scoring 2.6 goals per game. At the same time, they do have the fourth worse defense, giving up 1.6 goals per game.
- Six players have found the back of the net for the Mavericks. However, one player – Lila Dere has been the main goal scorer for Colorado Mesa recording seven goals so far this season. Haley Klasner has been key to the goals that have been scored this year having a team high three assists.
- Chloe Dody has been the main goalie for the Mavericks, and has 27 saves (.771 save percentage) and has only allowed eight goals to be scored on her.
