DURANGO, Colo. Coming off two tough losses to start Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play, Western Colorado is looking to get back on track against Fort Lewis College on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
MOUNTAINEERS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
- Western had two devastating losses to start RMAC conference play against Black Hills State (Dec. 3) and Chadron State College. Yet, will have a good chance to improve to 1-2 in the RMAC standings.
- The Mountaineers are already 1-0 against Fort Lewis this season, after defeating them 72-59 on Wednesday, Nov.17. Ky Buell and Samantha Coleman both had their best scoring output in that game. Buell scored 25, while Coleman pitched in with 17.
- Coleman is the leading scorer for Western this season, averaging 10 points a game, on 43.4% shooting from the field and 43.4% shooting from the three-point line. Grace Kirscher and Buell have also been a factor on offensive, scoring 9.6 and 8.6 points per game.
- Katie Dalton is the leading rebounder for the Mountaineers with 5.7 per game and averages a team leading 1.7 blocks a game. Kirscher has also been solid on defense this season averaging a team leading 1.4 steals per game.
- This season Western has scored 53.6 points per game, shooting 37.3% from the field, 30.6% from the three-point line and 63.6% from the free throw line.
SKYHAWKS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
- The Skyhawks have had a rough start the season as they are 1-7 overall and currently on a four-game losing streak. In their first two games of RMAC conference play, the Skyhawks loss both games against Chadron State College 72-49 (Dec. 3) and Black Hills State University 66-38 (Dec. 4)
- So far this season Fort Lewis had been scoring 52.9 points per game, while allowing opponents to score 72 points per game.
- The Skyhawks have had trouble shooting the ball only making, 34% of their shots from the field, 28% from the three-point line and 59% from the free throw line.
- Sydney Candelaria is the leading scorer for Fort Lewis, averaging 15.9 points per game. Kelsey Sorenson and Alyssa Adams are the next two highest scores for the Skyhawks scoring 10.7 and 10.3 points per game.
