GUNNISON, Colo. – Western Women's Basketball look to improve their playoff spot this weekend in Denver. The Mountaineers will be on the road this weekend to talk on the Rangers of Regis University on Friday night at 5:30 p.m. and the Cougars of Colorado Christian University on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.  Â

Western (10-7 RMAC, 14-7 overall) is ranked sixth in the RMAC, Regis (8-9 RMAC, 12-10 overall) is ranked eleventh behind the Cougars (9-8 RMAC, 11-12 overall) who are ranked ninth.

Western Women's Basketball is ranked second in the RMAC in three categories, defense, defensive rebounding, and three point percentage.

The Mountaineers are led by senior
Tammarrah Gothard who is ranked first in the RMAC in steals, with 62 total steals she averages 2.9 per game. Gothard also ranks fourth in the RMAC in assists with 86 assists thus far this season.

The leading scorer for Western is sophomore
Samantha Coleman with 256 points on the season, averaging 11.6 points per game. Coleman is also averaging 44.2 percent from behind the three pointer, placing her third on Western all-time list. She also ranks second in the RMAC in free throw percentage.

Coleman will have her work cut out for her, as Colorado Christian is ranked fourth in the RMAC in defending three pointers.

Regis is also a tough defensive team, ranked fifth in the RMAC and only allowing 58.9 points against them. They also rank second in offensive rebounding, allowing them more possession time and shot opportunities.

With only five more games left in the season the Mountaineers are starting to look at their play-off picture, but there is still work to be done.

Next weekend the Mountaineers will be home facing off against Adams State University and Fort Lewis College.
