ALAMOSA, Colo. – Western State Colorado University took care of business on Thursday night in Alamosa, Colorado. The 15
th ranked Mountaineers defeated Adams State University 30-15.

Western (11-4, 4-1 RMAC) made it five straight dual victories over ASU (2-9, 2-3 RMAC), earning three wins by bonus points and two by way of forfeit.

The Grizzlies got on the scoreboard first. Starting the dual at 285 pounds, ASU's Tuli Laulu won by sudden victory to give the home team three team points.

The Mountaineers then took two forfeits at 125 and 133 pounds to go ahead 12-3.
At 141 pounds, Western's
Jody Sandoval got out to a 6-0 lead in the first period after a takedown and four-point near fall. A two-point near fall by ASU's Dylan Udero and an escape by Sandoval made it 7-2 heading into the third period. Udero, starting on bottom to begin the final period, earned an escape and then a takedown to make it 7-5. Udero earned one point for riding time, but Sandoval won the bout by 7-6 decision.

No. 5 Natrelle Demison earned ASU's only bonus points of the night, winning the 149 pound bout by fall.

Western's
Shawn Beiriger earned four of those points back in his match, defeating Joshua Salas by 12-3 major decision. Beiriger held Salas without a takedown during the seven minute match.

The Grizzlies would earn two more decisions during Thursday's dual. Koery Windham earned a 9-5 decision at 165 pounds, while teammate Richard Bencomo won by the same score at 184 pounds.

Those wins by ASU were negated by Western's wins at 174 and 197 pounds.

At 174 pounds, No. 5
Brandon Supernaw earned a third-period technical fall, 19-4, for the Mountaineers. Supernaw held Isaac Lopez without a takedown during his bout.

For No. 5
Konnor Schmidt, he earned a fall in overtime, avenging loss to ASU's Joe Bencomo last week at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships.

Western now has one remaining dual this season. The Mountaineers will travel to New Mexico Highlands University on Tuesday before heading back to Las Vegas, New Mexico for the NCAA Region IV Championships the following weekend.
