GUNNISON, Colo. – Ninth-ranked Western Colorado University Wrestling are flying across the United States to South Carolina this weekend to partake in the Newberry Duals on Sunday. The Mountaineers will have four duals, two of which come against top-12 ranked opponents, including the defending national champions and current top-ranked St. Cloud State University.

The Mountaineer grapplers will get an early start to the day as their first dual comes against Coker College at 6 a.m. (MST). It will be the first dual against Coker in program history.

Western will then turn around and wrestle host school, 12
th-ranked Newberry College at 7:30 a.m. (MST). It will be just the third dual for the Mountaineers against the Wolves. Western is 1-1 all-time against Newberry, and the won last year's matchup 38-7 at the Tracy Borah Duals in Gunnison.

Newberry has three wrestlers ranked. Austin Neal is ranked 11
th at 125 pounds, while Isaiah Royal is ranked second at 141 pounds and Patton Gossett is eighth at 285 pounds.

Limestone College is Western's next opponent at the Newberry Duals. The Mountaineers will wrestle the Saints at 9 a.m. (MST) for the first time in program history.

Heavyweight Daniel Bland is ranked seventh at 285 pounds for Limestone. He is the lone Saint ranked in the top-12 of their respective weight class.

Western closes the Newberry Duals against top-ranked St. Cloud State at 10:30 a.m. (MST). It will be the first ever dual between the Huskies and Mountaineers.

SCSU currently has nine wrestlers ranked out of a possible 10. The only weight at which the Huskies are not ranked is 141 pounds.

The Mountaineers have two wrestlers currently ranked.
Brandon Supernaw is the top-ranked wrestler at 174 pounds and
Konnor Schmidt is ranked second at 197 pounds.

Two of the biggest matches of the Newberry Duals could come between Western and SCSU wrestlers.
Â
Supernaw could potentially matchup against the Huskies' Kolton Eischens who is currently ranked third at 174 pounds, and Schmidt could go up against Vince Dietz of SCSU, who is the top-ranked wrestler at 197 pounds.
As a team, Western is 2-0 in duals against ranked opponents this season.
