GUNNISON, Colo. – Wednesday night in Pueblo, Colorado will feature a showdown between two top-25 ranked wrestling teams. The 15
th ranked Western State Colorado University wrestlers will head east down Highway 50 for a 7 p.m. dual against fifth ranked Colorado State University – Pueblo.
Western (9-3, 3-0 RMAC) enters the dual undefeated in conference duals and winners of their last seven of eight.
The Mountaineers are 13-15-1 all-time against CSU-Pueblo, but have won the last four meetings. Last year, Western defeated the then ranked 15
th Thunderwolves 22-15 in Gunnison.
Three Mountaineers are currently ranked individually.
Trenton Piatt is eighth at 125 pounds, while
Brandon Supernaw is fifth at 174 pounds and
Konnor Schmidt is also fifth at 197 pounds.
CSU-Pueblo (5-5, 3-1 RMAC) has won their last three duals, with their only conference loss of the season coming against San Francisco State University, 29-9.
The Thunderwolves have four wrestlers ranked individually. Paul Garcia is seventh at 133 pounds, Clay Archer is seventh at 141 pounds, JaCobi Jones is second at 165 pounds, and JaVaughn Perkins is first at 184 pounds.
