GUNNISON, Colo. – Western State Colorado University wrestling concludes the dual season this weekend at home. The Mountaineers host Adams State University and New Mexico Highlands University this Friday and Saturday night at 7 p.m. in Paul Wright Gym.

On Friday, rivals ASU (1-8, 0-5 RMAC) make the trip over Cochetopa Pass to face No. 19 Western (6-6, 2-2 RMAC) at 7 p.m. in Paul Wright Gym. Friday night's dual is Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night as members of the Mountaineer wrestling squad will honor specific Western employees that have had an impact on their career at Western.

Friday is also Suns Out, Guns Out, as fans are invited to dress in their best beach attire.

The Mountaineers have defeated the Grizzlies in the last three dual meetings. Western won last year's meeting 30-11 in Alamosa, Colorado.

Western is coming off a third place finish at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships last Saturday. Three Mountaineers made the finals and Western's 125-pounder,
Ronald Wardleigh was a conference champion. In total, seven wrestlers placed for the Mountaineers.

Wardleigh is now ranked second in Division II at 125 pounds. His 12 falls against Division II opponents this season also ties him for the division's lead.

Western's
Brandon Supernaw, RMAC runner-up at 174 pounds, is also ranked nationally in Division II. Supernaw enters the weekend ranked ninth at 174 pounds.

The Grizzlies finished seventh at the conference championships, with 133-pounder Martin Ramirez finishing highest for ASU as the conference runner-up. Ramirez is ranked eighth in Division II.

NMHU (2-7, 2-3 RMAC) finished ninth at the RMAC Championships. 157-pounder Reis Humphrey was the top finisher for the Cowboys, finishing third at the conference tournament.

The Cowboys will face Colorado Mesa University on Friday night before traveling to Gunnison for Saturday's 7 p.m. dual.
The Mountaineers host the Gunnison Dusters, youth wrestling club, before Saturday's dual for Community Night. The Dusters will wrestle the Montrose youth wrestlers before the start of the dual at 5 p.m. in Paul Wright Gym.

Saturday's dual will also be Senior Night as three it will be the final dual in Paul Wright Gym for three Mountaineers.

Mick Dougharity,
Zane Rich and
Ronald Wardleigh will all be honored Saturday for their dedication and contribution to Western wrestling.

Dougharity, a transfer from Oregon State University, has been a starter for Western at 197 pounds for the past two seasons. He has an overall record of 38-27 during that time, winning seven of those matches by pin. On Saturday he finished second at the RMAC Championships.

Rich has spent four years with the Mountaineer wrestling program, starting the past two seasons. His senior season was cut short due to injury, but end his career with 61 wins and 21 falls.

Wardleigh, a transfer from Western Wyoming Community College, has 30 falls in just the two-year time he has been at Western. The 2017 RMAC Champion was an All-American last season and finished runner-up for the Division II falls lead. He was also the 2015-16 Region IV Champion.
