GUNNISON, Colo. – The Western State Colorado University women's basketball team opens the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference season on Tuesday. The Mountaineer host Colorado Mesa University for the conference opener at 5:30 p.m. in Paul Wright Gym.

Western (1-3, 0-0 RMAC) is coming off their first win of the season on Saturday. The Mountaineers defeated Bethany College (Kan.) 68-55 in the Holiday Inn – Airport Thanksgiving Classic in Grand Junction, Colo.

The win against Bethany was also the highest scoring output of the season for Western.

Harlie Williams leads the Mountaineer scoring attack, averaging 12.3 points per game. Williams also leads the team in rebounding, averaging 5.3 per game and her 51.7 percent (15-of-29) three-point shooting percentage is best in the RMAC.

CMU (3-1, 0-0 RMAC) has won their past two contests coming into Tuesday night's game. The Mavericks own the second highest scoring average in the conference at 72.8 points per game.

Leading the Mavericks' offensive charge is Bryanna Adams. Adams is averaging 16.8 points per game, which ranks second best in the RMAC.

The last Mountaineer win over CMU came on Jan. 13, 2012 when Western defeated the Mavericks 75-64 in Paul Wright Gym.
