Special Teams Demon Earns RMAC Weekly Honor

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.  Western Colorado's Jevon Young was a living nightmare for Adams State on Saturday night, earning the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's football special team's player of the week award, announced by the league office Monday afternoon.

The Mountaineer defensive back blocked three punts in the game, the first late in the second quarter that eventually resulted in a Western touchdown that made the score 28-11.

Young did it all himself early in the third quarter, blocking the Grizzlies' fourth-down punt from their own 12 and recovering it in the ASU end zone for his first career touchdown.

For good measure, Young blocked a third punt, this one midway through the fourth quarter, this third blocked punt setting a single-game Colorado state collegiate football record.

Young finished the game with a pair of tackle assists and a pass breakup to go along with his award-winning special teams play.
