Jan Thewes has been voted to the Third Team of the College Sports Communicators (CSC, formerly CoSIDA) 2025-26 NCAA Division II Men's Track & Field/Cross Country Academic All-America® Team, as announced Tuesday by CSC.
A 2025-26 CSC Academic All-District® honoree, Thewes was advanced to the Academic All-America® ballot where he earned his third-team honor in a vote by CSC members.
The CSC Academic All-America® program recognizes honorees in four separate divisions – NCAA Divisions I, II, and III, and the NAIA. Nominees, submitted by institution's athletic communicators/sports information directors, must have a minimum grade-point average of 3.500 and be at least a sophomore athletically and academically. Each nominee must have been an 'on-field' contributor and must have finished in the top 50 at their regional cross country championship and/or registered a top-50 regional performance in track & field.
A graduate student at Western with a 3.94 grade point average in the exercise and sports science program, Thewes earned an all-region honor at the 2025 South Central Region cross country championship and then an All-American honor with his 24th-place finish at the NCAA DII men's cross country championship, where he and his teammates placed fifth in the team standings.
Later in the 2025-26 academic year he earned another All-American honor, placing seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the NCAA DII outdoor track & field championship meet.
