EMPORIA, Kan. The NCAA released on Tuesday, May 12 the official qualifiers for the Division II Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships, with six Western Colorado runners set to make the trip to Welch Stadium at Emporia State (Kan.) University for the May 21-23 national meet.
Tyler Nord will represent the Mountaineers in two events, qualifying for nationals in both the 5,000-meter run and the 1,500m run. He'll enter the championship seeded fifth in the 5,000 with a time of 13 minutes, 44.56 seconds, and seeded seventh in the 1,500 (3:42.10).
Also qualifying in the men's events is
Jan Thewes, who will be seeded sixth in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 8:47.87.
Peyton Weiss earned the No. 7 seed in the women's 1,500, posting a qualifying time of 4:20.68, joined in the event by 16th-seed
Emma Kjellsen (4:25.68).
In the longest race of the championships,
Annaka Rudolph will race in the women's 10,000m run, entering the event with the 20th-fastest time (35:09.56)
In the sprints, Western's
Myia Dantzler will step into the blocks of the women's 100m dash, the 15th seed in the event with a school-record time of 11.54 seconds.
The championship meet includes the top 22 performers in the individual events and the top 16 in the relays and combined (multi) events.
