Salt Lake City, Utah   The Western Colorado Volleyball team travels to Westminster University to take on the Griffins in an RMAC regional pod match up on Friday October 4 at 6 PM.
 
Grand Junction, Colo.   The Western Colorado Volleyball team travels to Colorado Mesa University to take on the Mavericks in an RMAC regional pod match up on Saturday October 5 at 5 PM.


WESTERN COLORADO GOING INTO THE WEEKEND | 2024 STATS
  • Western Colorado Volleyball comes off a split weekend, sweeping Chardon State College then dropping close game to Colorado Christian University.
  • The Mountaineers placed thirteenth in the RMAC Volleyball Preseason Poll. They go into the weekend 3-10 overall and 1-3 in conference.
  • WCU has a total of 431 kills, 394 assists, 54 aces, 593 digs, and 46 blocks so far this season.
  • Senior setter Nur Turkmenoglu has control on both sides of the ball with 471 total assists, 32 kills, 19 service aces, 102 digs and 13 blocks. Senior Seyun Park paves the way with 119 total kills. After her is senior Kennedy Kelly with 101 total kills. A close third is junior Pelin Aksoy with 100 kills.
  • Sophomore Chinaru Inoue is the front runner for digs with 231. Contributing to the defense is sophomore Kyra Kidd with 35 total blocks.
  • Western Colorado played well on both sides of the ball in their previous games and are ready for more conference play.
WESTMINSTER GOING INTO THE WEEKEND | 2024 STATS
  • The Griffins placed ninth in the RMAC Volleyball Preseason Poll. They go into the weekend with an overall record of 6-5 overall and 2-2 in conference.
  • Westminster is coming off two road losses to RMAC opponents Colorado School of Mines and Metropolitan State University of Denver.
  • WU has accumulated 526 total kills, 479 total assists, 88 total aces, and 702 total digs so far this season.
  • Junior Breegan Huntsman paces the offense with 107 total kills (2.49 per set). Right with her is sophomore Cook Claire contributing 66 kills (2.55 per set).
  • Junior setter Leila Cornejo has racked up 220 assists (5.12 per set).
  • The defense is controlled by senior Alanna Lee with 187 digs (4.35 per set) and Huntsman with 106 digs (2.47 per set) along with junior Mailei Myers who is top in blocks with 40.
COLORADO MESA GOING INTO THE WEEKEND | 2024 STATS
  • The Mavericks placed ninth in the RMAC Volleyball Preseason Poll. They go into the weekend with an overall record of 9-3 overall and 3-1 in conference.
  • Colorado Mesa is on a one game winning streak after defeating Colorado School of Mines 3-0.
  • The Mavericks have a total of 604 kills, 559 assists, 65 aces and 515 digs on the year.
  • The offense is guided by senior Sydney Leffler with 165 kills (4.13 per set), red shirt junior Sierra Hunt with 133 kills (3.33 per set) and sophomore Nicole Martin with 121 kills (3.03 per set).
  • Red shirt senior setter Sabrina VanDeList is the front runner for assists with 485. This year she became the Mavericks' all-time career assists record holder and all-time service ace leader.
  • Leading the defense is junior Allison Waller with 162 digs. She is accompanied by VanDeList with 105 digs. Martin also plays a big role on defense, adding 30 total blocks to her stats.

Mountaineer Volleyball will travel to Spearfish, S.D. to compete against Black Hills State University on Saturday, October 12 at 5 PM for an RMAC matchup.
