COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. The National Football Foundation Colorado Chapter announced their postseason awards Tuesday morning, which includes Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Player of the Year and Coach of the Year as well as first and second team rosters. Deyvon Butler (Offense), Kendall Lightfoot (Defense) and Ricky Freymond (Defense) all represent Western Colorado on the first-team roster.
Butler earned first-team honors after he led the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference with 1,032 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns, while averaging 86-yards per game throughout 12 games, including one postseason game this season. Nationally, he ranks seventh in rushing touchdowns, 12th in points scored (102), 18th in scoring (8.5) and 19th in total rushing yards.
Lightfoot also earned a spot on the first-team roster after leading the Mountaineers with 86 total tackles, including 53 solo tackles this season. The redshirt senior had 13 tackles for a loss of 40 yards and 5.5 sacks for 26 yards. He also recorded six quarterback hurries, five pass breakups, three interceptions and two fumble recoveries. Nationally, he ranks 21st in fumble recoveries and 62 in solo tackles.
Freymond also represents the Mountaineers after he led his squad in tackles for loss with 14 for 91 yards and sacks with 9.5 for 84 yards. He also has 30 total tackles and a team leading four forced fumbles. Freymond closed out the 2023 season ranked eighth in the nation in forced fumbles, 18th in sacks and 68th in tackles for loss.
