COLORADO SPRINGS, CO. For the first time this season, Western Colorado running back Deyvon Butler has been named the National Football Foundation Colorado Chapter's Player of the Week.
Butler posted a career-high 240 rushing yards in the Mountaineers 57-3 win over Fort Lewis last weekend. He accounted for more than half of the Mountaineers 440 total rushing yards and played a large part in the Mountaineers 770-yards of total offense. He also claimed two receptions for a total of 14 yards and averaged 11.4 yards per carry.
He currently leads the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in total rushing yards (832) and rushing yards per game (83.2). Nationally, he ranked 32nd in total rushing yards and 39th in rushing yards per game.
Butler and the Mountaineers will close the regular season on the road against Adams State in Alamosa, Colo., on Nov. 11. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. MT.
