Gunnison, Colo. The snow in Gunnison is starting to melt, which means it is time for the Western Colorado football program to start spring football practices. The Mountaineers will kick off the spring season next week, starting on Saturday, March 26.
 
Western will hold 15 practices, culminating with the annual Crimson & Slate Spring game on Saturday, April 23 in Mountaineer Bowl.
 
The Mountaineers will hold two scrimmages prior to the spring game. Both scrimmages are on the two Saturdays before Saturday, April 23 (Spring Game).
 
Majority of practices will be held every Tuesday and Thursday throughout the remainder of March and April, with two practices – Mar. 15/22, being held on Friday.
 
All practices are open to the public. If high school coaches are interested in attending position meetings, please contact head coach Jas Bains at jbains@western.edu to confirm times and locations.
 
Western will be holding Junior Visit Day on Saturday, April 16. Prospective student-athletes and family members are encouraged to attend. Check-in starts at 10 a.m. and registrants will have the opportunity to meet the coaching staff, tour campus and watch practice.
