GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.  Mountaineer swimming and diving will take its annual trip to Colorado Mesa University for the Mavericks' TYR/CMU Invitational that begins Wednesday and ends with Saturday's finals session at El Pomar Natatorium.

Previously named the A3 Performance Invitational, the 2022 TYR/CMU meet will be the 10th consecutive trip to the Invite by Western Colorado.

The Mountaineers last winter finished in fourth place for the second straight year. Western's best finish at the meet was third place in 2012, 2015, 2016 and 2018, while never finishing below fourth place.

Host CMU has captured the past four Invite titles, setting a meet record in 2019 with 1,464 points.

Wednesday's timed final heats begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday will include morning preliminary and evening finals sessions with Thursday and Friday scheduled for 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. starts, while Saturday's events are scheduled for 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

WESTERN COLORADO HEADING INTO THE WEEK
Western Colorado swimmers dot the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference top times report with several cracking the top 10.

In seventh with a time of 59.82 seconds in the 100 backstroke is Elisa Elsberry, and ninth in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.44) is Addison O'Donnell, who is also 12th in the 200 breaststroke (2:37.05).

LynDea Turner has the ninth-fastest time in the 200 backstroke (2:13.55) and is 14th in the 100 back (1:01.86). Grace Humbert is 10th in the 200 back (2:13.87) and just shy of the top 10 with the 13th fastest time in the 200 IM (2:17.13).

Just missing the top 10 is Trinity Caudle in the 200 breaststroke (2:35.93) with the 11th fastest swim, and the 13th fastest time in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.71). Leah Wagner is 12th in the 100 breast (1:11.60) and 16th in the 200 breast (2:40.67).

In the backstroke events, Courtney Coplan is 11th in the 100 (1:01.18) and 14th in the 200 (2:16.70), and in the 50 free its Makenna Lambert that is 11th (25.12).

With the 12th-fastest swim in the 1,000 free (11:19.42 is Jordan Maruska, whose 500 free time of 5:32.56 is 17th on the conference list.

AvaMarie Hopewell actually leads the Mountaineers with five top 20 times, with her 13th fastest times in the 500 free (5:29.65) and 200 butterfly (2:26.35) registering the highest spots of her five events on the RMAC list.

LOOKING AHEAD
Western Colorado hosts only two home meets in the 2022-23 season, the first of which will be Sat., December 3 against Colorado State University Pueblo. The event will be the Mountaineers' Senior Meet.
