Another Season Best for Nielsen

EVANSVILLE, Ind.  In her final event at the 2026 NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships, Western Colorado's Morgan Nielsen on Saturday raced to a season-best time in the preliminaries of the women's 1,650-yard freestyle.

Swimming in the second prelims heat of the timed final event, Nielsen hit the pad in a time of 17 minutes, 20.10 seconds for a season-best swim.

It was the 16th-fastest time in the preliminary session, with the top eight seed times still to swim in the championship session at night.

Her season best on Saturday made it 3-for-3 at nationals for Nielsen, as she also posted season bests in her other swims, the 1,000 free and the 500 free – setting a new Western Colorado record in the 1,000 with her time of 10:18.24 in Wednesday's prelims.

Nielsen's appearance at the 2026 championship meet was her third appearance at nationals, having qualified for and swam at the 2025 and 2024 NCAA championships.
