COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference on Tuesday afternoon released it 2022-23 men's wrestling preseason coaches poll, listing Western Colorado fourth in the voting by the league's eight coaches.
Ranked 18th in the preseason National Wrestling Coaches Association's (NWCA) preseason poll, the Mountaineers accumulated 33 points in the RMAC poll to slot between second place Colorado School of Mines and Colorado Mesa University, each with 40 points, and fifth place Chadron State College (21 points).
Adams State University tops the RMAC list with 47 points and six first-place votes (coaches are not allowed to vote for their own team), with Mines picking up the other two first-place markers.
In addition to Western's spot in the preseason NWCA national rankings, Adams State is eighth, Mesa is 10th and Mines is 24th.
Western opens its 2022-23 season with the annual Crimson and Slate Intrasquad on Thursday, October 27 at Paul Wright Gym, then entertains Northeastern (Colo.) Junior College the following Thursday in the season's duals start.
