GUNNISON, Colo. Western Colorado nearly came back after
Jimmy LaConte (174) picked up a 9-8 decision victory to tie things 13-13. However, Colorado School of Mines won two of the final three matches to defeat the Mountaineers 22-17.

- Laconte trailed 8-7 with 13 seconds left in the final period, as Ryan Fidel tried to hold on. But, Laconte made his move and got the two-point takedown with 3 seconds left and held Field down for the win.
- The Orediggers picked up an 8-5 decision victory and fall victory at the 184 and 197-pound weight class to give them a 22-13 lead.
- Then Sammy deSeriere (285) ended the night strong for the Mountaineers defeating Michael True in convincing fashion, earning a 13-4 major decision victory.
- Prior to that, Cody Fatzinger (125) got things going for Western out wrestling Christian Lopez on his way to a 4-1 decision victory.
- Colorado School of Mines would win the next to matches at 133- and 141-pound weight class via a fall and 10-2 major decision victory – tipping the score 10-3 in their favor.
- The Mountaineers cut the lead to 10-6, thanks to Jason Hanenberg who got off to a strong start in period one – racing out to a 6-0 lead, then controlled the match from there, defeating Cody Thompson via a 12-6 decision victory.
- The Orediggers responded after that barely defeating Ryan Wilson (157) by a 4-3 decision – the final point coming midway through the third period.
- Hunter Mullin (165) was the final victor of the night bullying Jackson Damenti for the majority of the match, as he picked up a 17-7 major decision win.
