GUNNISON, Colo. --- Western Colorado volleyball defeated Colorado Christian 3-0 (W, 25-21, 25-23, 25-22) on Saturday night for their final regular season match in Paul Wright Gym. Following the match, the team recognized their two seniors in 
Nicole Gonzales and 
Kat Finnerty.
 
Western Colorado had to fight every set to walk away victorious. The first set was tied 18-18 before the Mountaineers went on a 5-0 run, before closing it out. The Second set was tied 23-23, prior to Western Colorado scoring the final two points. Then in the third set the team was down 18-9 before an 8-1 run to get back into it. Down 22-19, the Mountaineers scored six straight to close out the match.
 
Leading the Mountaineers in kills was Western Colorado's 
Emily Mangone who recorded 13 kills on the night. Teammates 
Savanna Meyer (10 kills) and 
Kat Finnerty (eight kills) where the next two highest scorers.
 
Finnerty, along with 
Jordyn Todd, 
Alex Galicia and 
Hailee Martinez each recorded one ace in the three set match.
 
On the defensive side, Finnerty and Meyer each recorded four blocks. Leading the team in digs was Western Colorado's 
Elizabeth Rupprecht with 19 digs, as 
Emily Mangone recorded 17 digs and 
Jordyn Todd earned 13 digs.
 
Mountaineers 
Hailee Martinez and 
Alex Galicia shared the setting duties as Martinez recorded 19 assists and Galicia earned 15 assists.
 
Western Colorado volleyball will be back in action next week for their final two games of the regular season. The team will need to finish in the top eight in the RMAC to make the conference tournament. On Friday, Nov. 12 the Mountaineers will face N.M. Highlands on the road, then travel to Adams State to play on Saturday, Nov. 13.
