ST. CLOUD, Minn. --- The 23rd-ranked Western Colorado wrestling team started strong, but eventually fell to No. 1 St. Cloud State 33-16 on Sunday on the road.

The Mountaineers' Patrick Allis got things rolling quickly as the No. 3-ranked wrestler at 125 pounds made quick work of the Huskies' Robby Horsman as he pinned him in 1 minute, 7 seconds. WCU's Cody Fatzinger followed with a major decision victory of 14-5 at 133 pounds while the Mountaineers' Jason Hanenberg pinned SCSU's Joey Bianchini at 141 pounds in the second period as the Mountaineers built a 16-0 lead.

But it's the last points the Mountaineers would get as the top-ranked Huskies won the next seven matches (including a forfeit at 197) to rally for the 17-point win.

The Mountaineers return home next weekend as they host the Western Colorado Open 12 p.m. Friday before taking on UNC Pembroke at 4 p.m. the same day at the Mountaineer Field House. WCU then hosts the Tracy Borah Duals starting at 9 a.m. Saturday - again at the Mountaineer Field House.
