GUNNISON, Colo. --- Mountaineer volleyball returns to Paul Wright Gym Tuesday night at 7 p.m. as they host the Mavericks of Colorado Mesa (5-5 overall, 1-1 RMAC) for the Mountaineers' home opener. Western Colorado (6-4 overall, 2-0 RMAC) is currently on a four-game winning streak and undefeated in conference play.

THE MOUNTAINEERS HEADING INTO TUESDAY | 2019 SEASON STATS
Western Colorado started its regular season on the road as it played RMAC opponents CSU-Pueblo and New Mexico Highlands, winning both matches and advancing to a perfect record in the conference.

On Friday, the Mountaineers played the ThunderWolves in Pueblo, Colorado, as they lost the first set 25-16Â in Massari Arena, only to win the next two sets by an average of three points. With a chance to win in the fourth set, the Mountaineers came up short sending it to the fifth set. Falling behind early in the fifth, Western Colorado rallied to win 15-13.

During Saturday's match, Western Colorado played the Cowgirls in Las Vegas, New Mexico, as it got off to an early lead - winning the first set 25-11 against the Cowgirls in John A. Wilson Complex. They then went to win the second set comfortably with a 25-20 victory, before edging out the third set 28-26 after fighting off a set point at 25-24 thanks to an

The Mavericks come to Western Colorado after a tough loss on Saturday against CSU-Pueblo as they lost in the fifth set on the road. On Friday, they defeated New Mexico Highlands earning their first conference win of the season, sweeping the Cowgirls 3-0 on the road.

Leading CMU in kills is redshirt junior Kasie Gilfert as she has recorded 139 kills over 34 sets, averaging 4.09 per set. Recording the most sets for the Mavericks is senior Samantha Ritter with 171 in 34 sets on the season. On the defensive side, Gilfert also leads the team with 25 blocks on the season, while sophomore Kerstin Layman leads her team in digs with 150 on the year.
