GUNNISON, Colo --- Western Colorado University volleyball heads back to Kansas to play four games at the Tiger Classic Tournament in Hays, Kansas. The team will play two games on Friday and two on Saturday.

On Friday, the Mountaineers will go up against Southern Arkansas University at 12 p.m. Later that day Western will face off against Northwestern Oklahoma State University at 4:30 p.m.

On Saturday, the Mountaineers will play the host team of Fort Hays State University at 12 p.m. Then later play Newman University at 4:30 p.m. for the last game of the tournament.

THE MOUNTAINEERS HEADING INTO THE WEEK | 2019 SEASON STATS
Western went one and three last weekend at the Gorilla Classic Tournament, falling to Midwestern State (2-3), Missouri Western (0-3), Pittsburg State (1-3) and picking up a victory against East Central (3-1).

In last week's tournament, Western had a few eye opening performances from their roster including freshman
Jordyn Todd who led the Mountaineers in multiple categories including 45 kills (averaging three per set). She also leads the Mountaineers in total points after earning 51.5 points over the weekend (averaging 3.43 per set). Â

Also distinguishing themselves as elite performers are upper classmen
Emilee Scates,
Hanna Hendrickson, and
Lyria Brook as they set the precedent for the Mountaineers last weekend in Pittsburg, Kan. as they heavily contributed to their victory against East Central University.

Southern Arkansas University | 2019 SEASON STATS
The Muleriders enter the tournament with a one and two record after winning their season opener against Tuskegee University then losing there next two at the Britkare Buff Classic.

Junior Lauren Smith leads the Muleriders with 20 kills on the season, averaging two per set with only has five attack errors. Freshman Morgan Schuster leads the team in setting with 94 percent (89 sets) of the team total sets.

Northwestern Oklahoma University | 2019 SEASON STATS
The two and three Rangers come into the tournament having won the most games this season after losing their first two they have won two of their last three giving them momentum going into the weekend.

Leading the Rangers in kills is sophomore Kaydee Honeycutt with 48 kills on the season, Honeycutt had had the most attacks for Northwestern at 172 total attacks. Junior Sydnee Miller leads the Rangers with 88 digs, along with Kaitlyn Robinson with 124 assists.

Fort Hays State University | 2019 SEASON STATS
The Tigers open the weekend against Chadron State Friday morning before wrapping up day one against Southern Arkansas. Fort Hays returns to the court Saturday afternoon against Western Colorado before playing Northwestern Oklahoma State in the final match of the tournament.

Fort Hays enters the tournament with a one and three record after winning their last game against South Dakota Mines. Leading the Tigers in kills is freshman Delaney Humm with 43 on the season earing 22 of those against South Dakota Mines.

Newman University | 2019 SEASON STATS
The Newman University Jets are off to a slow start to the 2019 season having gone 0-5 thus far this season.

Leading the Jets is Sophomore Trinity Conley with 61 of the teams 154 kills on the season, averaging 3.81 kills per set. With 107 assists, Reagan Roth leads the team averaging 7.64 per set.

Following the Tiger Classic Tournament, Western Colorado will begin conference play starting on Friday, Sep. 20th at Colorado State University Pueblo.
