ST. GEORGE, Utah – Western Colorado University women's swimming and diving won five events on Saturday at Dixie State University. However, the Mountaineers were unable to come away with the dual win, falling to the Trailblazers 91-171.

Western earned three wins from
Randi Yarnell and two from
Savannah Tice, with runner-up finishes from
Sydney Skiles,
Kali Stier and Tice.

The Mountaineers began the meet with a second place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. Tice,
Alex Johnson,
Jordyn Richey and Yarnell combined to finish in 1:51.98.

Skiles then completed the grueling 1,650-yard freestyle in a time of 19:01.03 for another second place finish for Western.

In the third event, Yarnell cruised to a victory in the 200-yard freestyle. Yarnell touched the wall in 1:55.41. It was the first of three wins for the senior.

Yarnell also won the 50 free in a time of 24.51 and the 100 free in a time of 54.09.

Tice reached the finish first in the 100-yard backstroke and 200 back. Tice's time in the 100 was 59.17 and in the 200 it was 2:07.49.

Stier finished just behind Tice in the 200-yard backstroke, placing second in a time of 2:11.56. Stier was third in the 100 back (1:02.99).

Tice also earned a second place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:01.83.

The Mountaineers also earned third place finishes by
Gabrielle Davy in the 200-yard butterfly (2:25.62), and
Jocelyn Jo in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:37.76).

Western will have one more meet on Jan. 26 before the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships on Feb. 13. The Mountaineers host the University of Nebraska – Kearney and Adams State University on Senior Day in the Paul Wright Gym pool.
