GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Western Colorado University women's swimmer
Randi Yarnell set a new school record in the 200-yard butterfly as the Mountaineers won three events against Colorado Mesa University Friday. Western fell on the road to the Mavericks 67-192.

Yarnell won two events, the 200 butterfly and 100-yard butterfly. In the 200 fly, Yarnell touched the wall in 2:08.22, breaking
Akemi King's 2014 school record of 2:10.11.

Yarnell now owns five individual Western school records, and has helped four relay teams set school records.

In the 100 fly, Yarnell finished nearly four seconds ahead of the second place competitor with a time of 57.95.

Savannah Tice earned Western's other event win. Tice swam the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 58.89.

Yarnell also had a second-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle. The senior finished in 52.24, just 0.09 behind the first-place finisher, Sierra Forbord of CMU.

The Mountaineers started the meet against CMU with a second-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay. Tice,
Jordyn Richey, Yarnell and
Jocelyn Jo combined to finish in a time of 4:02.59.

Western will return to the pool on Saturday at Dixie State University. The dual against the Trailblazers is scheduled for 2 p.m. in St. George, Utah.
