GUNNISON, Colo. – Western Colorado University Wrestling hits the pavement this week, starting a three-dual road trip on Friday. The Mountaineers face Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opponent Chadron State College Friday at 6 p.m. in Chadron, Neb. before traveling to Fort Hays State University and the University of Central Oklahoma the following weekend.

Western (8-3, 2-1 RMAC) enters the weekend tied for 19
th in the NCAA Division II Coaches' Poll.

The Mountaineers are coming off two dual wins at the 29
th Tracy Borah Duals. Western defeated Simon Fraser University 39-12 and San Francisco State University 35-9. The only loss for the Mountaineers at the Borah Duals came against Division I opponent Air Force Academy, 9-27.

Western's
Brandon Supernaw continues to be the top-ranked wrestler at 174 pounds. Supernaw has an unblemished 10-0 record this season and will most likely face Chadron's Matt Hebel on Friday. Hebel has a 9-7 record this season.

In a lineup move,
Konnor Schmidt has dropped into the 184-pound weight class. Schmidt went 3-0 at the Tracy Borah Duals at 184 pounds last weekend, earning one fall and two decisions.

With the lineup continuing to be ironed out prior to the start of the NCAA Division II Region IV Championships on Feb. 23, Western will be looking to solidify a starting wrestler at 157 pounds. Friday, either
Jason Slaughter or
James Steerman will get a chance to make their case. One of them will more than likely matchup against the Eagles' Jake Otuafi, 8-10 this season.

Friday's dual is the fourth Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference dual of the season for the Mountaineers. Western has a 2-1 record in those duals with five more conference duals before the regional championships.

CSC (3-4, 2-3 RMAC) are coming off dual losses to Adams State University, 12-28, and Colorado State University – Pueblo, 3-31.

The Eagles will face Colorado Mesa University on Thursday night before wrestling the Mountaineers on Friday.
