ALAMOSA, Colo. – Western Colorado University Women's Swimming and Diving traveled to Adams State University for their third dual of the season. Western wasted little time in process, storming out to an early lead before defeating Adams, 156-106.
In the process, the Mountaineers won 10 of the 14 events contested, despite many athletes swimming in non-traditional races. One of those event champions who was not outside her comfort zone was
Savannah Tice as she won both the 200 Back and the 100 Fly.
Tice's 2:11.28 clocking in the 200 Back set a new pool record at the Plachy Hall Pool.
Including relays, Tice and
Randi Yarnell both won four events on the day.
Sydney Skiles also recorded two event wins for Western in the 1,650 Free and the 400 IM.
In the 200 Butterfly, sophomore
Amalie Ratliff recorded her first collegiate win with a 2:37.73 effort.
While the Mountaineers stacked up points with event wins, they also showed great depth in the 200 Back and the 100 Breast. In both events, Western went 1,2,4 to earn 15 team points each. In the back, Tice,
Kali Stier and
Lillian Galvan tallied the points, while
Jocelyn Jo,
Alex Johnson, and
Mikaela Romano dominated the 100 Breast.
Following the win, Western turns their focus to the Colorado Mesa University A3 Performance Invite next weekend.
