GUNNISON, Colo. – Western Colorado University Women's Swimming and Diving fell to Colorado Mesa University on Saturday in a head-to-head meet. The Mavericks defeated the Mountaineers 189-61.

Randi Yarnell continued her dominance in the 200-yard freestyle, cruising to a win in 1:57.04.

Yarnell also finished second in the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly.

The combination of Yarnell,
Savannah Tice,
Alex Johnson, and
Jordyn Richey finished second in the opening event of the meet, the 200-yard medley relay. The relay team finished in a time of 1:52.32.

Western's
Sydney Skiles placed second in the 1,650-yard freestyle. Skiles touched the wall in 19:22.68 to earn four team points.

Also earning a second-place finish was
Kali Stier. The freshman swam the 200-yard backstroke in 2:13.08.

The Mountaineers will return to the pool next Saturday. Western hosts Colorado School of Mines at 12 p.m. in the Paul Wright Gym Natatorium.
