ALAMOSA, Colo. – For the second match in a row, Western Colorado University balanced their inside-outside attack, but could not overcome Adams State University on their home court. The Grizzlies overpowered the Mountaineers in the clash of the valleys, taking the match in three sets, 25-8, 25-22, 25-19.
A slow start proved problematic for Western (2-21, 1-14 RMAC) as it took until the third set for the Mountaineers to gain their first lead of the night. Building momentum throughout the match, Western led throughout much of the third frame before surrendering the lead 18-19 to Adams State (9-13, 6-9 RMAC). The Grizzlies recorded six of the next seven points to take the set.
Maddy Johnson again proved consistent for Western out of the middle. On the match, Johnson recorded 8 kills while hitting .353 and tallying two blocks.
Chelsea Bostwick added six kills for the Mountaineers.

Adams State scored the first point of the match and did not look back taking the first set 25-8.
Western continues a stretch of road play next week on the tail-end of the regular season as they head to the front range for match-ups with Colorado School of Mines and UCCS.
