GUNNISON, Colo. – Honoring their seniors in their final dual at Paul Wright Natatorium, Western swimming and diving cruised past Adams State 148-54. The Mountaineers captured nine of the eleven scored events to take the win on Senior Day.
Western's Seniors did themselves justice on the day.
Kate Hewson won the 50 Breast in (32.60) and also swam legs of the winning 200 Medley Relay (1:56.37) and 200 Free Relay (1:42.98).
Anna Kaiser finished second in the 50 Breast in a personal best (32.93).
Morgan Aragon lead off the winning 200 Medley Relay.
Two Western swimmers each captured two individual event wins. Freshman,
Madeline White won the 200 Free in 2:03.82 before doubling back to capture the 100 Free in 57.24.
Randi Yarnell also took two titles in the 50 Free (24.35) and the 50 Fly (26.81).
Additionally, several Mountaineers swam their way to personal bests on the day. Launching into the 50 Back for the first time this season,
Nina Crouch swam a lifetime best 30.38 to take the win. Teammate,
Savannah Tice, strayed from her emerging backstroke specialty to set a lifetime best of 5:39.90 in the 500 Free. Tice won in convincing fashion, besting second place by 19 seconds.
With the regular season complete, Western turns their attention to the looming RMAC Championships in three weeks.
