ALAMOSA, Colo. - Western State Colorado University swam to a dual meet victory 126-77 over Adams State.
With both teams coming off a significant competition at the A3 Performance/CMU Invite and an intensive block of training, a short program eschewing distance swims guided the meet. Of the 11 events in the dual, the longest on the day was the 500 yard freestyle.
The Mountaineers controlled the pool, winning seven of eleven events. Taking wins for the Mountaineers were
Sydney Skiles in the 400 IM and the 500 Free,
Alex Johnson in the 100 Breast,
Kate Hewson in the 50 free, and
Randi Yarnell in the 200 Free.
Savannah Tice added two second place finishes in the 100 and 200 Free events.
Still other Mountaineers stepped outside of their comfort zones, swimming in events not in their traditional repertoire. That approach proved successful for
Madeline White as she earned second in the 200 IM for the first time her collegiate career.
After navigating finals week, the Mountaineers return to the pool at Colorado College on Friday, December 15th.
