COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Western State Colorado University women's swimming and diving won eight events against Colorado College on Friday in Colorado Springs, Colorado. However, the Mountaineers came up just short of the Tigers 136-162.

Western began the dual meet, winning the first five events.

In the first event, the 200-yard medley relay,
Savannah Tice,
Alex Johnson,
Randi Yarnell and
Kate Hewson combined to win the event in a time of 1:53.22.

Sydney Skiles then proceeded to win the 1,000-yard freestyle by 22 seconds. Skiles finished with a time of 11:18.08.

In the 200-yard freestyle, Yarnell won in a time of 1:59.69. Yarnell would go on to win the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:24.18.

Tice proceeded to win the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:00.67.

Anna Kaiser made it five wins in-a-row for the Mountaineers, placing first in the 100-yard breast stroke in a time of 1:11.60. Johnson finished second in the event, just one second behind Kaiser.

Jordyn Richey won the 200-yard breast stroke for the Mountaineers in a time of 2:37.89. Richey also finished second in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:24.52.

Western ended the meet with a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Hewson,
Shelby Brown, Tice and Yarnell combined to finish in a time of 1:41.82.

The Tigers earned 36 points from diving to put the dual win out of reach for the Mountaineers.

Western will return to the pool Jan. 13 against the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado.
