GUNNISON, Colo. – Two more opponents await Western State Colorado University men's basketball this weekend at the Colorado Mesa University Holiday Inn-Airport Thanksgiving Classic in Grand Junction, Colorado. The Mountaineers will face two NAIA opponents in the tournament hosted in Brownson Arena. Western will first play Central Methodist University at 3 p.m. on Friday, before playing No. 18 MidAmerica Nazarene University at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
 
This weekend's games will be the final nonconference games of the season before Western (1-3, 0-0 RMAC) begins Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play.
 
The Mountaineers split last weekend's games. Western defeated Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University 81-69 before falling to Midwestern State University 121-123 in double overtime.
 
Four Mountaineers are averaging 10 or more points per game. Leading Western is Collin Smith, averaging 18.3 points per game. Smith is averaging the sixth most points scored per game in the RMAC.
 
Central Methodist (8-0, 0-0 HOAAC) enters the weekend undefeated. The Eagles are averaging 93.5 points per game, while allowing opponents just 63.13 points per game.
 
Leading Central Methodist is Brian Egejuru, averaging 22.5 points per game.
 
No. 18 MidAmerica Nazarene (7-1, 0-0 HOAAC) won seven straight to begin the season before losing to Park University in the previous game. The Pioneers will face Colorado Mesa on Friday before facing Western on Saturday.
 
Jonathan Green leads MidAmerica Nazarene in scoring, averaging 17.8 points per game.
 
The Pioneers rank second best in the NAIA for field goal average at 55.2 percent.
