GUNNISON, Colo. – Western State Colorado University women's swimming and diving hosted Colorado Mesa University on Saturday in the Paul Wright Natatorium. Western fell to the Mavericks 180-81.

Of the 16 events, Western finished first in two events, second in six events and third in five others.

Randi Yarnell finished first in the 200 yard freestyle and 100 yard butterfly for the Mountaineers. Yarnell won the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:57 and the 100 butterfly in 58.80.

Finishing second for Western was
Savannah Tice in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.38.
Anna Kaiser finished second in the 200 yard breaststroke with at time of 2:42.04, while
Kate Hewson finished second in the 50 yard freestyle (25.40) and teammate
Sydney Skiles finished second in the 400 yard individual medley with a time of 5:02.87.

Both of Western's relay teams finished second. The 400 yard medley relay, comprised of Tice,
Alex Johnson, Yarnell and
Madeline White finished with a time of 4:08.30. White, Tice, Hewson and Yarnell combined for a second place finish in the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:45.31.

Western will face CMU in their next competition in Grand Junction, Colorado on Nov. 17.
