GUNNISON, Colo – Western State Colorado University will open its home competition hosting the 2015 Comfort Inn Classic Friday and Saturday in Paul Wright Gymnasium. Western State and Colorado Mesa will trade off playing Eastern New Mexico University and Cameron University, with the Mountaineers playing both evening games. Western State plays Eastern New Mexico Friday night at 7:30 p.m. and Cameron Saturday evening at 7 p.m.
 
 The Mountaineers have had a slow start, only returning four players from last year's squad. One of the returners, senior Danny Hopkins, leads the team with 12 points per game. James Thomas and Tom Folsom are second on the team with just under 10 points per game.
 
Defensively, Ben Beauchamp leads the boards with 11 total rebounds. He also had a team-high six assists. Will Duggan has six steals as well.
 
The Mountaineers open conference play the first weekend of December against CSU-Pueblo.
