Nash, Freymond earn All-American Nods

BROOKFIELD, Ill.  Western Colorado quarterback Drew Nash and defensive end Ricky Freymond added two All-American honors each to their postseason awards list, getting named to the 2025 Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-America Team as well as the Associated Press 2025 NCAA DII All-American team.

Nash earned second team honors as an All-Purpose player on the Don Hansen and the AP All-America teams, while Freymond earned a second team defense selection on the AP All-American team and honorable mention All-American on the Dan Hansen list.

Also earning a Don Hansen honorable mention All-American honor was offensive lineman Zach Brumfield.

With 33 touchdown passes this season, Nash posted the third most scoring touches through the air in DII, while adding 11 rushing touchdowns, which was 29th nationally. He finished with 264 points responsible for, third most in DII, and with a points responsible per game average of 22.0, second in the country.

Nash's 77 career passing touchdowns top that category in the Western record book, and his career total of 8,061 passing yards is second most.

Freymond, the program leader in career sacks (29.0), is second in the record book with 58.0 tackles for loss after posting 4.5 sacks and 13.0 TFLs this season.

Nash was a finalist for the Harlon Hill Award – presented to the NCAA DII college football player of the year – finishing in seventh place, the highest finish for a Mountaineer in program history.

The Harlon Hill recognition was added to a slew of postseason honors already awarded, including the Division 2 Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) Super Region 4 Offensive Player of the Year and first team quarterback; the National Football Foundation-Colorado Chapter (NFFCC) Offensive Player of the Year and first team quarterback; the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Offensive Player of the Year and first team quarterback;, and the RMAC All-Academic Offensive Player of the Year and first team quarterback.

Freymond added the AP and Don Hansen honors to a growing list that includes American Football Coaches Association second team All-American on defense; D2CCA second team defense; All-NFFCC first team defense; RMAC first team defense; and RMAC All-Academic first team defense.

Brumfield adds his honorable mention Don Hansen honor to recognition on the second team All-NFFCC offense and first team All-RMAC offense.

Nash, Freymond and Brumfield have been part of a program that advanced into the second round of the 2024 and 2025 NCAA DII playoffs after playing in and hosting a first-round DII playoff game in 2023.
