KANSAS CITY, Mo.  Western Colorado's Ian Loomis and Drew Johnson have been named to the D2Football.com Elite 100 Watch List, as announced by the national organization on August 12.

The Elite 100 is D2Football.com's version of an All-America team and is "selected by staff members … with input from sitting head coaches and professional scout Josh Buchanan," as stated in the official press release.

Picked to the Elite 100 second-team defense, Loomis, a linebacker for the Mountaineers, is a 2026 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference preseason All-RMAC selection after earning a first-team all-conference honor in 2025. He was second in the league last season in total tackles with 108, and sixth in the conference in sacks with 5.0.

Johnson, a defensive end on the Elite 100 Squad Defense, is also a 2026 preseason All-RMAC selection and he, too, was a first-team all-conference player in 2025. Last fall, Johnson led the RMAC in sacks (6.5) and was second in the conference in tackles

for loss (14.5).

The pair are two of five RMAC players to be included on the Watch List.
The Mountaineers, who were picked second in the 2026 RMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, kick off their season on the road at West Texas A&M on Thu., Aug. 17, then host Angelo (Texas) State on Thu., Sept. 3, at the Mountaineer Bowl for Western's home opener of the 2026 campaign.
