GUNNISON, Colo.  The Western Colorado Mountaineers return to Paul Wright Gym on Friday night following a two-game road trip, welcoming Regis University to Gunnison. Western enters the matchup with momentum after taking care of business on the road, sweeping the Rangers in straight sets.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Western came out strong in the opening set, setting the tone for the match from the start. The Mountaineers took control early and never surrendered the lead, securing the first set 25-22.
- In the second set, Regis put together a seven-point run midway through the frame, putting Western in a difficult position. The Mountaineers responded with a run of their own, closing the set on a seven-point surge to take the second set 25-21 and move one set away from the sweep.
- Andrea Torres led the Mountaineers offensively with nine kills, while Maggie Legg and Sierra Long each added eight kills. Olivia Moore paced the offense with a team-high 16 assists, while Anuhea Ka'alele contributed eight assists.
- The third and final set was a back-and-forth battle, with both teams trading points throughout. Regis made a late push to keep the set close, but Western remained composed and maintained a narrow lead. The Mountaineers then closed out the match with a strong finish, taking the third set 25-19 to complete the straight-set sweep of Regis University.
- Defensively, Galatia Andrew led Western with 14 digs, while Legg added 12 digs. At the net, Breanna Nohava made her presence felt with a team-high six block assists, helping anchor the Mountaineers' defensive effort.
