GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.  Western Colorado swimmers Morgan Nielsen and Adessa Talbot on Saturday participated in the CMU Last Chance Meet hosted by Colorado Mesa University at its El Pomar Natatorium.

The pair traveled to the meet in search of improved times from those posted one week ago at the 2026 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championship Meet.

At that meet Nielsen earned NCAA Division II B altitude adjusted provisional cuts in the 500-, 1,000-, and 1,650-yard freestyle events.

Her 1,650 time of 17:28.02 at the RMAC meet converts with the altitude adjustment to 17:08.02, which stands as the 20th fastest time in DII this season.

She swam the 1,650 at the Last Chance Meet finishing in a time of 17:30.16, leaving her RMAC-posted result as her official provisional time heading into championship selection day on Feb. 24.

Her time from the 1,000 free at the RMAC translates with the altitude adjustment to 10:15.46, 29th on the NCAA performance list. While her 500 time of 5:07.04 (5:02.04 altitude) is outside the top 60 nationally, if she qualifies with her 1,650 and/or her 1,000 free time, she will get to swim all three events at the NCAA DII championship meet.

Talbot attacked the 200 butterfly at the Last Chance Meet having posted a career-best time of 2:06.53 in taking third place at the RMAC meet. That time translates to 2:05.33 with the altitude adjustment, a clocking that sits 41st on the NCAA performance list in the event.

At the Last Chance Meet Talbot raced to a finishing time of 2:07.86, leaving her RMAC time as her opportunity to qualify for the national meet.

Nielsen and Talbot helped lead Western to a fourth-place finish at the RMAC championships, the second consecutive year the Mountaineers have earned that spot at the meet.
