GOLDEN, Colo. In a dual with host Colorado School of Mines, the first between the Orediggers and Western Colorado since October 2021, the 12th-ranked Orediggers posted a 164-59 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference win over the visiting Mountaineers.
The meet came at the end of Western's winter training trip, assuring that the Mountaineers would be entering the dual with fatigued bodies.
The morning started off well, though, as Western's
Alexandra Wallis swept both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions, posting a winning six-dive score of 227.00 at 1M and a first-place score of 218.30 on the 3M.
The Mountaineers' top finish between the lane lines came late in the event schedule, as
Morgan Nielsen swam to second place in the 500-yard freestyle, posting a runner-up time of 5 minutes, 21.53 seconds.
Agnieszka Rudomina (5:5:28.55) placed fourth in the event, after swimming to a third-place finish in the first individual event in the pool, the 1,000 free. Her time of 11:14.78 was just 5/100ths of a second off the second place time.
Also adding third place finishes on the day were
Anna Jorstad in the 50 free,
Adessa Talbot in the 400 individual medley, and
Ella Fries in the 100 breaststroke.
Jorstad would also add a fourth place in the 100 freestyle.
Both of Western's relays placed third in their respective events. The teaming of Jorstad, Fries,
Joanna Swiderska and Nielsen would finish the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:08.23, and the quartet of
Sophia Del Rosario,
Brionna Thomas,
Lauryn Bingley and
Sarah Krise touched third in the 200 free relay (1:43.42) to close out the meet.
