Mountaineer Soccer Releases 2025 Schedule

5/8/2025 9:00:00 AM

GUNNISON, Colo.  Western Colorado's women's soccer team has announced its 19-game regular-season schedule for 2025, a slate that includes 12 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opponents and four non-conference opponents whom the Mountaineers will face for the first time in program history.

Western opens with a pair of neutral-site games in Lakewood, Colo., on September 4 and 6, taking on Southwestern Oklahoma State University and Oklahoma Christian University, respectively. The Mountaineer have squared off against Southwestern only once in program history (2012) and will face Oklahoma Christian for the first time.

The Mountaineers kick off their home schedule on Sept. 10 and 12 with non-conference games at Katy O. Rady Field. The home opener brings West Texas A&M University to Rady Field followed by the first meeting against the University of Texas at Dallas.

Western plays Northwest Nazarene (Idaho) University in a non-conference match on Sept. 13 before returning to Rady Field to close out the pre-RMAC schedule with games against Cal State San Bernardino on Sept. 19 and Nebraska-Kearney on Sept. 21.

This season's game against West Texas will be the third meeting between the two programs, Western winning the initial matchup in 2021 and the Buffaloes earning the win at home last season.

Nebraska-Kearney has a 3-1 edge in games with the Mountaineers, winning at home last season after Western had taken a neutral-site victory from the Lopers in 2022.

The games against Northwest Nazarene and against Cal State San Bernardino will be first-time matchups for Western.

The RMAC schedule is split with six home and six away games and includes the three conference teams that advanced into the 2024 NCAA Division II tournament.

The first of those three opponents, Colorado Mesa University, hosts the Mountaineers on Oct. 5. Two weekends later, on Oct. 19, Western travels to Colorado School of Mines, which won the RMAC regular season and tournament titles and played into the quarterfinals of the NCAA championship, where it lost to eventual national champion Cal Poly Pomona.

The Mountaineers host the third NCAA participant, MSU Denver, on Oct. 31, before closing out the regular season on Nov. 5 with a home game against Fort Lewis College, last season's RMAC tournament runner-up.

The eight-team RMAC postseason tournament opens with the quarterfinal round on Nov. 9 and concludes with the championship game on Nov. 15, with the 2025 NCAA DII tournament beginning the following week.
