MANHEIM, Pa. Nine Mountaineers have been recognized as National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) NCAA Division II Scholar All-Americans, as announced by the organization on Monday.
In addition, Western Colorado ranked 11th in DII on the NWCA Team Scholar All-America list with a cumulative team grade point average of 3.395.
Individual Scholar All-American recognition varies with the level of accomplishment for each wrestler. Those that were All-Americans at the 2025 NCAA DII national championships must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00. National qualifiers to the championship are required to post a GPA of 3.25, and non-qualifying wrestlers who competed in four or more events must post a minimum GPA of 3.50.
Earning Scholar All-American from Western for the third time in their careers are
Lawson Hayman and
Dean Noble. Noble finished fourth at the 2025 championship, earning his second consecutive All-American honor.
Mountaineers picking up their second NWCA Scholar All-American honors include
Cole Gray,
Peyton Harris,
Sage Harrison and
Cole Hernandez.
First time Scholar All-Americans from the Western program include
Isaac Chavarria,
Eyan Chavez and
Tyson Irby-Brownson.
Western completed the 2024-25 season with an 8-4 record, 5-2 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference duals, and placed third at the DII Super Region VI championship, and 26th at the NCAA championship.
