Morgan Nielsen's haul at the 2025 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Championships as the sophomore posted a career-best time of 17 minutes, 10.82 seconds in the women's 1,650-yard freestyle to break the record she set in the event last season.
Nielsen's time placed her 20th in the event's final standings, her highest national finish in two seasons at the championship meet.
All told, Nielsen recorded four lifetime bests and three Western records at the meet.
Her 1,000 free on Wednesday was in a school-record time of 10:19.85. Then on Thursday she swam a 1:53.51 in the 200 free for a career best.
In Friday's preliminary heats of the 500 free she bested her own school record, setting a new mark of 4:59.23, her first time under the 5-minute mark.
Since entering the program last year Nielsen has now set records in successive years in the 500, 1,000 and 1,650 freestyle events while earning a place at the NCAA championship meet in both years.
