Swim & Dive All Prepped for Indy

INDIANAPOLIS  The 2025 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Championships begin Tuesday, March 11, with a pair of Western Colorado divers competing for spots in Wednesday's and Friday's events and Morgan Nielsen warming up for one swim each over the next four days at the Indiana University Natatorium.

Chloe Brown and Alexandra Wallis both surpassed the required scores on the 1- and 3-meter boards to compete in Tuesday's Diving Qualification Meet.

They will perform six dives on the 1-meter board in a morning session, and then six dives on the 3-meter board in the afternoon session. The divers with the top 22 scores on each board in the qualifying meet officially advance into the national championship meet, with the 1-meter competition scheduled for Wednesday and the 3-meter scheduled for Friday.

Nielsen is in familiar territory, having competed in the 2024 NCAA championship meet.

She qualified for the 2025 meet in the same three events and will also get to swim a bonus optional event.

In Wednesday morning's preliminary heats, Nielsen will be seeded 25th in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10 minutes, 11.55 seconds.

She will swim her bonus event, the 200 free, the next day, seeded 45th with a time of 1:52.72. Then in Friday's prelims Nielsen steps up onto the block for the 500 free seeded with the 25th-fastes time of 4:57.14.

The final day of the championship meet brings up Nielsen's best event, the 1,650 free. The timed final event has her seeded 16th with an entry time of 16:55.51.

Nielsen, Brown and Wallis earned spots on the podium at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championship meet that ran from Feb. 11-15.

Brown was third on the 1-meter board and fourth on the 3-meter, while Wallis was sixth on both boards.

Nielsen placed sixth in the 500 free and seventh in the 1,000 and 1,650 as Western finished the conference championships in fourth place in the final team standings.
