Alamosa, Colo.,   The Western Colorado Men's Basketball team falls short to RMAC opponent Adams State University by a score of 90-81 on Thursday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ten seconds into the game, ASU knocked down a three 3-0. Senior Amar Rivers followed it up with a turn around jumper 3-2. A few possessions later, junior Andrew Reichart traded scores with the Grizzles 5-4. A pull up by Rivers and a driving layup by senior Trey Anderson put the Mountaineers on top 8-5.
- Adams got within one 8-7 but freshman Dawlton Grant and River combined for four points 12-7. An answer from ASU tied the game at 12-a-piece. The Grizzlies went on a run, advancing their lead 24-12. River hit back-to-back shots then Reichart finished around the rim to cut the deficit 24-19.
- With five minutes left in the first half, sophomore Tyler Halligan hit a three pointer and senior Spencer Wright swapped buckets with ASU 35-29. The Grizzlies elevated their score 47-29 after a small scoring run. Â
- Anderson and junior Christian Still hit free throws while Halligan put away a layup to close the gap 47-34. River hit a three with thirty-second left but a buzzer beater layup sent Adams into the locker room with a 51-37 advantage. Â
- ASU kicked off the second half with an alley-oop then a three 56-37. Rivers, senior Kade Juelfs and Halligan put up seven-points or WCU 56-44.
- With ten minutes to play, the score was close, but ASU kept their lead 69-56. Halligan, River and Still sunk a few shots but the Grizzlies answered, maintaining their edge 75-66.
- The respective teams continued to trade buckets, but ASU out shot WCU resulting in a Grizzly win 90-81.

COURT NOTESÂ
- River paced the offense with 29 points, going 9-19 from the field, 4-8 from behind the arch and 7-8 from the charity stripe. Halligan followed with 14 points, going 5-6 from the field, 1-1 from three and 3-5 from the free throw line. Juelfs was third with 13 points, going 5-9 from the field and 3-6 from three while also leading in assists with 4.
- Anderson pulled down 5 boards followed by Grant who had 4 then Reichart and Halligan with 3.
- Rivers recorded 2 steals and Grant accumulated 2 blocks.
- WCU shot 45.8% from the field, 39.1% from three and 72% from the charity stripe.
