McDowell Tabbed RMAC Player of the Week … Again!

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.  The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference on Monday afternoon announced that Western Colorado's Aidan McDowell has been voted the RMAC Player of the Week on offense, his fourth weekly honor over the first five weeks of the season.

Over the previous week's pair of games, McDowell poured in 33 points and 34 points to lead Western, many of his shots and points coming from long range.

Against MSU Denver on Dec. 11 he hit 5 of 12 from behind the 3-point line, and two days later against visiting Regis he zoned in even more, hitting 9 of 12 from behind the arc to help push Western to a 98-72 win over the Rangers, Western's highest point total since scoring 107 in a win during the 2020-21 campaign.

The sharpshooter also went to the free throw line a total of 10 times, hitting 9 of those opportunities.

McDowell leads the RMAC in scoring with a 28.9 points per game average, just short of eight points higher than the second leading scorer in the league. And his 39 3-pointers and 3.9 triples per game also top all RMAC scorers.

Picked to finish 13th in the RMAC preseason coaches' poll, McDowell has helped Western to a 3-1 start in conference action, tied for third place in the league standings early in the season.
