KEARNEY, Neb. Western Colorado swimming and diving rolled through the first of its two meets in Nebraska over the weekend, winning Friday's University of Nebraska Kearney (UNK) Distance Meet with a commanding 585 points, more than doubling the points from second place Colorado State Pueblo (268 pts.).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a fourth-place finish in the opening event, the 400-yard medley relay, Western began to assault the scoreboard placing five swimmers in the top six of the 1,000 free, including a 1-2-3 sweep.
- Morgan Nielsen won the event in a time of 10 minutes, 58.49 seconds, and was followed by Brionna Thomas (11:05.94) in second, AvaMarie Hopewell (11:17.56) in third, Grace Gardner (11:26.92) in fifth, and Mia Brown (11:33.92) in sixth place.
- Sophia Del Rosario (4:49.87) chipped in with a third place in the 400 individual medley, and Joanna Swiderska (2:10.69) and Adessa Talbot (2:12.39) scored second and third places, respectively, in the 200 butterfly.
- Cate Coffield added in another top-three finish for the Mountaineers, swimming to a third-place time of 2:11.52 in the 200 backstroke in the event before Western added a 1-2 photo finish.
- Leah Wagner (2:10.68) edged out Ella Fries (2:28.70) by a fingernail to earn the top two spots in the 200 breaststroke.
- The 400 free relay added fifth-place points to the Western total, just before the final event of the meet, the 1,650 free piled on points with four Mountaineers in the top five at the finish.
- Agnieszka Rudomina (18:15.70) won the event, with Del Rosario (18:45.25) taking third, Sidney-Ann Morris (18:49.94) touching in fourth, and Elizabeth Sagunsky (19:04.43) finishing in fifth place.

Western will look to sweep the weekend on Saturday when it will compete in the UNK Sprint Meet with prelims beginning at 8 a.m. MT and finals starting at 3 p.m. MT.
