GUNNISON, Colo. Western Colorado swimming and diving continues the early portion of it 2025-26 schedule with a visit from Southwest Minnesota State University on Saturday morning, October 4.
The dual meet, starting at 9 a.m., will be the first between the Mountaineers and Mustangs.
Western is coming off season opening wins during the Third Annual Dan France Continental Divide Cup, where it captured both the Day 1 and the Day 2 quad meets, accumulating points from both days to capture the Continental Divide Cup trophy for the third time.
Leah Wagner won three events during the two days at Colorado State University Pueblo's Sam Jones Aquatic Center, setting the pool record in one of her victories.
Wagner posted a winning time of 2 minutes, 29.27 seconds in the 200-yard breaststroke on Day 2 to set the Aquatic Center record for the event. Later in the day she won the 400 individual medley, sweeping the IM events after winning the 200 IM on Day 1.
Agnieszka Rudomina won an event each day for the Mountaineers. On the opening day's meet, she led a 1-2-3 finish in the 1,000 free, then on the second day sha captured the event title in the 1,650 free.
Other first-place finishers during the two days of the Cup were
Adessa Talbot in the 200 butterfly,
Emma Linscombe in the 100 IM,
Cate Coffield in the 200 backstroke, and
Alexandra Wallis in 3-meter diving (5 voluntaries).
The foursome of
Joanna Swiderska,
Madi Zach,
Brionna Thomas and
Anna Jorstad added a relay win for Western, combining for the win in the final event of the weekend, the 200 free relay.
SMSU opened its season on Sept. 26 with a third-place finish at the Northern State Relays.
Last season the Mustangs posted a 4-6 record in duals and finished seventh at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference meet.

The program will host its annual Crimson and Slate Intrasquad Meet on Homecoming Saturday, Oct. 11, beginning at 9 a.m. in Paul Wright Natatorium.
