Mountaineers Impress at UCCS XC Open

Colorado Springs, Colo., Rudolph and Davis Lead Mountaineers at UCCS XC Open.

The Mountaineer women placed several runners near the top of the standings, led by a breakout performance from freshman Annaka Rudolph, who crossed the line 7th overall in 22:15.1 over the 6-kilometer course. Close behind, Kate Horneck earned 8th in 22:22.2, while Natalie Kessler took 12th in 22:37.5.
Alissa Rall placed 16th with a time of 22:42.4, and Jayda Nix completed the scoring five in 21st at 23:02.8, giving Western five finishers inside the top 25.
Adding valuable depth, Lainey Mathiske (23rd, 23:17.5) and Savannah Byrd (33rd, 23:57.3) both turned in strong efforts, followed by Alice Hamm (40th, 24:46.1) and Jaime Pearson (47th, 26:42.6).
The Western Colorado men also turned heads in Colorado Springs, placing multiple runners among the top finishers in the 8-kilometer race. Branden Davis led the Mountaineers, and the entire race, with a strong 25:10.4 to open the team's scoring effort. Nathan Lumaye followed closely in 6th (25:47.4), while Aiden Wieskamp posted a 26:00.9 for another consistent finish within the top-10.
Gavin Taylor clocked 26:18.1, and Andrey Kutchma rounded out the scoring five at 26:39.5, giving Western a compact spread under 90 seconds. Joseph Houdeshell (22nd, 26:46.9) and Avery Cesar (35th, 27:25.9) provided key support just outside the scoring positions.
